As a kid, both my mom and dad were competitive body-builders. I remember thumbing through the various muscle magazines, soaking up the information on each page. I’ve had a great interest in nutrition and the capabilities of the human body ever since. At the age of 15, I got my first job working at the local gym. I scrubbed toilets, vacuumed, took out the trash, and cleaned hair out of the shower drains. I spent every penny on the supplements I had been researching, and worked-out on a regular basis. I learned more about what works, what was hype, and what could be potentially harmful. After high school I decided to join the Marines, where I learned a whole lot more about what the body is capable of under extreme duress, as I would go days without food or sleep. I also received medical training as a Combat Life Saver. Over time I began to see the body as a finely tuned organic machine, and I began to see my food as fuel, rather than merely something to be enjoyed. At the end of my active duty, I took to various jobs and also went on to study business and psychology in college. Through all of this I would find myself in conversations with coworkers and friends wherein they would talk with me about a multitude of medical and dietary struggles. I would often recall information source from differing articles, medical journals, and studies which many of them found helpful; this served to encourage my research. People would sometimes come back to me days and weeks later thanking me for information past along.
Today I own a small distributing business which has me running all around the city. I get to interact with lots of different people, and doing so has given me many opportunities to share helpful information. From time to time people jokingly ask me when my book is coming out. At the beginning of 2017 I published a short e-book on Amazon called A Happier You (having to do with self empowerment by way of choosing). I was pretty excited to get it out there, and missed a few typos, but I definitely learned some things, and would love to have you read it! Here’s a link. https://amzn.to/2IgtQjp So I thought perhaps I would conquer a book covering the body and nutrition as well. In pondering this idea, it occurred to me that any information I put into a book may need to be updated, as research in these areas is always revealing new particulars. That is how I arrived at this point. Blogging allows me to be fluid, as I can make changes to previous posts and work to keep up with new information. I like to link in items from Amazon that I myself have used and can trust, because I believe they can also help you. After all, helping others feel happier and healthier is my goal at Life Years.
